PERCY LADUNA BLOG#1

My name is Percy LaDuna. This is my second year at the University of South Alabama. I never thought I would end up here but the transition from solider to student has been great. I am thirty-two years old with two wonderful kids. I have a daughter who is thirteen and a son who is seven.

I was enlisted in the military for seven years. During that time I traveled to various parts of the world. My service time consisted of two tours to Iraq (2003 &2005) for a total of seven hundred plus days. My military experience was awesome. I was a Supply SGT also known as a logistic Specialist. My level of responsibility surpassed my initial expectations. A collage of significant military events helped shape my thoughts of becoming a teacher; the ability to provide purpose, direction and motivation to a group or individual with a high level of charisma. I love to coach little league sports. Over the last three years my teams have been very successful. Therefore I decided to take my coaching skills to the next level. My major is Physical Education where in the near future I hope to become a middle school or high school coach. I’m always looking for a new challenge….

  2. Percy, You have also had a very interesting life experience. My boyfriend is currently in the army. He is stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. It is very hard for me sometimes to know that he is so far away. But, I feel at peace about things when he calls me every night. I look forward to working with you!

  3. Percy, My fiance's brother is in the process of going from solider to student as well, he is currently teaching in the AIr Force with hopes to become a teacher in public schools. It looks like you already have a great life and have everything set up for a great future as a coach. I am sure you will be as successful at that as you have been with your military career. Good luck in the future becoming a teacher and thank you for everything you have done for our country!

  5. Hi Percy,

Thank you so much for serving for our country. I really appreciate everything! I am also into coaching. I coach all star cheerleading and absolutely love working with younger kids. After coaching for a couple years is when I knew teaching young kids is what I want to do. Good luck with everything and again thank you for your service.

  6. Percy,
First of all, I would like to say thank you for your time spent serving our country. I cannot imagine how tough is was to be away from your family, not to mention everything you went through and I am truly grateful. Transitioning from soldier to student must be difficult. I am just starting back to school after being out for about 4 years and sometimes working and school together can be tough, but I'm just extremely thankful for the opportunity to be able to get my degree. You mentioned that you would like to coach in high school or middle school. What sport would you like to coach?
